In response to the Home Office announcement, Jo Coles, York and North Yorkshire Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire, Crime said:

“All our communities deserve to feel safe.

“Additional funding for neighbourhood policing from the Government this week is extremely welcome and will enable us to significantly increase the levels of neighbourhood policing across York and North Yorkshire, starting to deliver on Mayor David Skaith’s commitment to safe places for all.   

“The public rightly expect our essential services to be funded properly so they can deliver the service the public deserves.   

“As Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime, I am committed to ensuring our local police service delivers that.”
