Public invited to ask questions in advance of #NYPscrutiny meeting and Tweet questions during the live broadcast

Following the successful introduction of live-streaming of the North Yorkshire Police Corporate Performance, Delivery and Scrutiny Board, the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable are again inviting the public to send in questions about the agenda items for the next meeting on Tuesday 23 August at 13:30.

Viewers of the live broadcast also have the opportunity to ask the Board questions via Twitter by using #NYPscrutiny.

This month’s meeting will be chaired by Acting Chief Executive Officer Fraser Sampson and Acting Chief Constable Tim Madgwick to monitor progress against the Police and Crime Plan – the document which sets out the priority areas of action, based on consultation with the public.

This meeting will look at how the police are progressing with Police and Crime Plan – Priority four – Improve Victim Care

In April 2015, the Police and Crime Commissioner took over responsibility for delivering victim services and set up Supporting Victims in North Yorkshire, a bespoke service specifically designed for victims in the county. The service is commissioned by the Commissioner and provides initial contact for some 2,000 victims each month, ensuring they can access the support that best meets their need. In addition, the Commissioner provides a range of specialist services for victims, including restorative justice, counselling services and personal adviser-led support for vulnerable and high-risk victims including victims of domestic abuse

The Objectives under ‘Improve victim care’ are:

  • Improve and expand services – 57% public support
  • Embed restorative justice – 21% public support
  • Tackle repeat victimisation – 53% public support

Questions received from the public that relate to the agenda and are received in advance of the meeting, will be addressed by the Board during a 15 minute period at the beginning of the meeting.

Questions received from the public via Twitter using #NYPscrutiny and that relate to items discussed during the meeting will be answered at the end of the meeting.
