Questions from the public

We received two questions from the public:

From:

and at what cost to public relationship and … the A64 at Whitwell Hill is purely a cash cow, no serious accidents there!!??
Replay the answer:

Response:

The A64 is ranked as North Yorkshires number one route in relation to Killed and Seriously Injured collisions, we adopt a route based approach in order to maximise our visibility and influence driver behaviour, not only to address excess and inappropriate speed but other anti-social road use which can be a causation factor of collisions.

There has been a number of serious collisions at Barton crossroads, some of which due to high and inappropriate speed, we are also seeing many vehicles travelling on this stretch of road in excess of 100mph, therefore we have a duty of care to protect all road users, not only at this location, but along the A64 and other routes across North Yorkshire and the City of York.
